Alexander Tkachenko: The Ministry of Culture is starting the process of returning state property in the Pochaev Lavra

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy begins the process of returning state property in the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, which is now used by the UOC. This was stated by the head of the Ministry Alexander Tkachenko on the air of a nationwide telethon.

“The head of the Pochaev Lavra filed a lawsuit to return the church, with which the agreement on the use of the UOC (MP) on the territory of the Lavra ended,” Tkachenko said.

According to him, the governor of the Lavra “did not allow representatives of the reserve to enter the church. Because of such actions of the hierarch, criminal proceedings will be opened on obstructing the use of state property.”

“This process has begun in the Pochaev Lavra. There will also be some other processes in relation to other institutions where lease agreements or use of famous objects that belong to the historical heritage of Ukraine have ceased to operate,” the minister assured.
