Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich noted that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a part of Ukrainian society. The priests of the UOC are part of the people of Ukraine. They are Ukrainians, citizens of Ukraine.

However, he added, there has been a lot of untruth and manipulation about this lately.

“In particular, I want to mention, it hurt me too. The Glavkom publication published information that I allegedly have Russian citizenship, citing information from law enforcement agencies. Published screenshots, where the number of my Ukrainian passport is indicated, the data of my Ukrainian passport are indicated, but for some reason Russian citizenship is written. That is, we see outright manipulation and outright lies in the media,” the clergyman said.

Father Nikolai stressed that «the priests of the UOC are Ukrainians, citizens of Ukraine.»
