The Cherkasy diocese announced that they would defend the honor and dignity of Metropolitan Feodosiy in court

The lawyer of the Metropolitan of Cherkasy and Kanev Feodosiy Yudin Vladimir Sergeevich, on behalf of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC, commented on the press release posted today, April 6, 2023, by the SSU Department in the Cherkasy region on its own website. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC with reference to the press service of the Cherkasy diocese.

“We confidently assert that each thesis from the press release published by the SSU is not true. And a proper legal assessment of the so-called indisputable evidence will be provided in the future by the court, ”the lawyer emphasized.

Vladimir Sergeevich suggested that the employee “who made up that shameful message is unaware of such principles of criminal procedure law as legality, respect for human dignity and the presumption of innocence.”

“This allows not for the first time to carry out frankly manipulative publications. Suffice it to recall the so-called flag of «Novorossia» found in one of the monasteries in the Cherkasy region, as well as the publication of photographs from a search in the Metropolitan’s household,» he recalled.

According to the lawyer, «such a PR campaign on the part of a law enforcement agency is unacceptable», and «evaluation of the evidence of criminal proceedings should be given exclusively by the court, and not by the press service of the SSU.»

“We also hope that the court will further evaluate those categorical statements that were made in press releases, but already within the framework of another proceeding on the protection of honor and dignity.”
