Hasidim have started coming to Uman

Hasidim are beginning to arrive in the Jewish quarter in Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year. They will celebrate 5,784 from September 15 to 16.
According to businessman Chaim Hazin, who has been living in Uman for 12 years and doing business in the pilgrimage area, there are more Hasidim every year. The coronavirus pandemic did not stop the Hasidim, nor did the full-scale invasion stop them from visiting the tomb of the righteous Rabbi Nachman: «People come here to pray. This is a spiritual place and they are not interested — war or ‘corona’. Everyone wants to leave. Already two or three thousand have come, and they say it will be 50.»
«From the experience of last year, we are working on improving border crossing, entering the city and speeding up all the necessary procedures. This year a special website was created, which collected all the information needed by pilgrims going to Ukraine. They also created a hotline for Hasidim, which works in three languages — Ukrainian, English and Hebrew. It is aimed at solving problematic issues that may arise during the pilgrimage,» said Irina Rybnitskaya, a representative of the Rabbi Nachman Charitable Foundation.
