Head of the UOC Press Service: Adoption of Bill 8371 is a global process of de-Christianization of Ukrainian society

Metropolitan Kliment (Vecherya), chairman of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, in an interview with the BBC News Service, answered, in particular, the question of how he assesses the adoption in Parliament of the bill in the first reading, which provides for the future possibility of a judicial ban on the activities of «religious organizations whose center is located in Russia.» This is reported by the press service of the Nizhyn diocese of the UOC.

«I would not consider this event solely as a localized fight against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by its antipodes. This is a global process of de-Christianization of Ukrainian society,» the vladyka noted.

Metropolitan Kliment is convinced that in the same way «those who demand the banning of the UOC allegedly for the purposes of state security, those who zealously lobby the PCU in power, tomorrow will unanimously vote for the introduction of same-sex marriage in Ukraine, and the day after tomorrow I do not even have enough imagination where the boundaries of their lawmaking will move».
