“The decision is made exclusively by the conciliatory council,” - the speaker of the Rada about the vote for the law #8371

On 21 May 2024, the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, thwarted an attempt by some MPs to pull the vote for the bill No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church bypassing the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada. The official reminded MPs that the decision to put a bill to a vote is made at the conciliation council with the participation of members of all parliamentary factions. He said this during a briefing on the results of the working day in Parliament, reports Lb.ua.

“The Ukrainian speaker, which and his deputies do not decide on the inclusion of certain issues on the agenda, because so prescribed by the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The decision is made exclusively by the conciliation Council, the code includes representatives of all factions», — said Stefanchuk.

We would like to point out that on May 21, 2024, during a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deputies from the European Solidarity and Golos parties blocked the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament demanding that the bill No. 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church be put to a vote.
