Court keeps in pre-trial detention for another 3 months Orthodox journalists detained in the “UOJ case”

On June 7, 2024, the Solomenskiy District Court of Kyiv held another hearing in the case of detained employees of the media resource “Union of Orthodox Journalists” accused of “high treason” and other far-fetched “atrocities”. The judge granted the prosecution’s motion and left Vladimir Bobechko, Andrei Ovcharenko, Valery Stupnitskiy and Archpriest Sergiy Chertilin in custody for another three months without the right to post bail. This is reported by the UOJ.
«The court extended the pre-trial investigation until September 12 in my case and in the case of journalists. Will further try to find a black cat in a dark room when it is not there,” — said Archpriest Sergiy Chertilin.
We will remind, earlier we reported that on March 12, 2024 the Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches at the employees of the Union of Orthodox journalists and the “First Cossack”. Three journalists of the SPJ and one clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were arrested as a result of the conducted measures.
