"Pro-OCU" media tries to smear the Patriarch of Jerusalem because of his friendly relations with the Russian Orthodox Church

The Ukrainian media, which lobby for the interests of the OCU in the information space, have launched a media campaign against Patriarch Theophilus of Jerusalem. The head of the Jerusalem Patriarchate is accused of being unwilling to recognize the OCU, and his friendly relations with the Russian Orthodox Church are called a “scandal.” The accusations against Patriarch Theophilus were published on the propaganda website “Spiritual Front of Ukraine”.

“Patriarch Theophilus III, who previously tried to convene the Amman Assembly to oppose the Patriarchate of Constantinople and has not yet recognized the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), again demonstrates his commitment to the Moscow Patriarchate, the Spiritual Front of Ukraine informs. His constant meetings with Russian ambassadors and support for events organized by the Russian Orthodox Church leave no doubt about his position on Ukrainian autocephaly and the church’s peacekeeping mission,” – the propaganda resource of the OCU supporters reports.

It is worth noting that the media lobbying for the OCU often harass public figures who do not share their position and criticize the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian authorities. Earlier, we reported that media resources defending the interests of the OCU initiated an information campaign to discredit the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The website Religion in Ukraine published an article entitled “Robert Amsterdam’s White Paper. The man of the tent”. The author of the publication, Tatiana Derkach, tries to convince readers that Amsterdam’s work to protect the UOC is more a way of drawing attention to the problem than an actual solution.
