Bulgarian Patriarch expresses support for Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Patriarch Daniel, the newly elected Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, expressed his support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The event took place on the day of the visit of the delegation of the Odessa diocese of the UOC, which took part in a joint Divine Service with the Primate of the BOC on July 7, 2024 in the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Sofia. The First Hierarch noted that in the Bulgarian Church empathize with the suffering experienced by the clergy and faithful of the UOC. Expressing gratitude for congratulations on the enthronement, Patriarch Daniel addressed the clergy and faithful of the UOC with a word of support: «I thank you for your good wishes, for your prayers, which are especially valuable for us, because we know that they come from confessional hearts, from hearts undergoing persecution, the exceptional difficulties of war and persecution against the Church. Please convey our gratitude to His Eminence and testify before him that we, as members of the One Holy Soborate and Apostolic Church, know, according to the words of St. Paul the Apostle, that when one member of the Church suffers, all suffer. We are not indifferent to the suffering you are enduring from the war and persecution of the Holy Orthodox Church. God grant you help, patience to endure to the end for the salvation of your souls. I heartily thank you!».
Recall, earlier we reported that on July 7, 2024 an official delegation of the Odessa diocese of the UOC took part in the Divine Service, which was led by the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel. Representatives of the UOC congratulated Patriarch Daniel on his election and presented him with commemorative gifts from Metropolitan Agafangel, the Administrator of the Odessa Diocese.
