A procession in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took place in Moldova

On July 19, 2024, a procession in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took place in the capital of Moldova — Kishinev. The event was attended by clergy and believers from Moldova and Ukraine. The processioners marched to the Ukrainian embassy in Chisinau, where they demanded an end to repression against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the release of imprisoned hierarchs of the Church and Orthodox journalists. “The brotherly Moldovan people today very empathize about the events in Ukraine, bring daily prayers for peace and provide all kinds of assistance to Ukrainian refugees. During the procession, which lasted more than 10 hours and was more than 40 kilometers long, on the way to the Ukrainian Embassy, prayers for peace and invocations of God’s Help were held in the Holy Temples of Chisinau, namely: St. John the Baptist, Prophet Daniel, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Stylianos, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Matrona of Moscow. More than 200 pilgrims took part in the procession and prayer services. Prayers and words of defense were said by Archimandrite Seraphim, Father Christopher, and other clergy and lay people. We hope for God’s mercy and help. Thank God for everything,” — stated in the message.
We will remind, earlier we reported that on June 27, 2024 clergy and believers of the Georgian Orthodox Church held a rally in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The protesters called for stopping the pressure on the UOC and releasing illegally detained clergy and believers from prisons. The event took place in Tbilisi in front of the European Union embassy.
