The majority of the faction “Servant of the People” is ready to vote for this bill - MP Poturaev on the ban of the UOC

The head of the committee for humanitarian and information policy, an MP of the pro-presidential party, Mykyta Poturaev, has expressed his opinion on the failed attempt to vote for the bill No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Poturaev claims that the majority of MPs of the Servant of the People faction are ready to vote in favor of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but he is not allowed into the session hall by the party leadership. About this the Deputy told in a commentary to the publication “Glavkom”.
“We have the majority of the faction “Servant of the people” is ready to vote for this bill, but the leadership of the faction on Tuesday blocked its introduction to the agenda. And such his (the faction leadership) actions actually label everyone as traitors. This is very important to emphasize, because from the outside it seems that “Servant of the People” is such a “cotton swamp.” But this is not true. As chairman of the committee, I was not invited to the Conciliation Council that was this morning, and I was not invited to the Conciliation Council that met when they adjourned. Therefore, I do not know what arguments were used there,” — Poturaev said.
The MP stressed that if the next time the party leadership again blocked putting the bill #8371 to a vote, supporters of the ban of the UOC in the “Servant of the people” will give their votes only for those laws that are related to the defense of the state.
“In our interfactional intergroup association, which supports the bill 8371 — the position is tough. We promised: if we are not listened to, then further we will vote only for those laws that are directly related to defense capability, and no more, until 8371 will be voted,” — added the Deputy.
We will remind, earlier the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be able to meet next time, when the scandalous bill № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, will be finalized. The official pointed out that so far there were still not enough votes in parliament to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
