MP Guz collected 18 signatures in Parliament in favor of evicting the Vladimir-Volynsk diocese of the UOC from the Cathedral

An MP of Ukraine from Volyn Region, Ihor Guz, has said that he has collected signatures of 18 of his colleagues in parliament to evict the Volodymyr-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyy. On this occasion, the MP initiated an appeal, which was also signed by his colleagues, reports “Bug”.

It is reported that the MP initiated an appeal, which was supported by a total of 18 people’s deputies, on the eviction of the diocese from the complex of buildings of the Assumption Cathedral. The appeal was sent to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko. The deputies demand to instruct the relevant state executive and law enforcement agencies to ensure the eviction of the Vladimir-Volynsk diocese of the UOC from the complex of buildings of the Assumption Cathedral in the city of Vladimir-Volynsky.

“The Dormition Cathedral is the sanctuary of the Ukrainian people, not a fortress for the hand of the “Russian world”, which mimics and, unfortunately, still has influence over people. The Moscow Church is a danger to the statehood of Ukraine, so there is no time to lose. The Moscow Church is controlled from the territory of the aggressor state, but, unfortunately, its representatives still control many Ukrainian sanctuaries. This is unacceptable in the context of the ongoing war! We demand decisive action to protect the interests of our state!”, — reads the statement of the MP.

Supported the initiative of Igor Guz people’s deputies: Mikhail Bondar, Yulia Klymenko, Natalia Pipa, Oleg Dunda, Oksana Savchuk, Iryna Kostankevich, Larisa Bilozir, Taras Batenko, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Oleksandr Aliksiychuk, Halyna Vasylchenko, Solomiya Bobrovska, Lesya Vasylenko, Anna Bondar, Vasyl Mokan, Sofia Fedina and Mykola Knyazhytskyy.

We shall remind you that on July 16, 2024, during a meeting of the temporary control commission of the Volyn Regional Council, MP Andriy Bokoch demanded to seal the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also includes the diocesan office and spiritual school of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy demands to sue the diocese for failure to fulfill the decision of the Volyn Regional State Administration on eviction from the occupied premises.
