"We learned about the results of the inspection from the media": in Pochaev Lavra commented on the "results" of the work of the commission on the territory of the monastery

The Holy Dormition Pochayiv Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church responded to media reports that allegedly revealed violations of the monastery committed during the operation of the monastery’s premises, which are architectural monuments. The monastery claims that the commission that worked in the Lavra did not inform the monastic community about the results of the inspection, and the information published in the media is not true.  press secretary of the Lavra, Archimandrite Gabriel.

“As of today, the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra, the user of the property under contract No. 1 of December 12, 2003, has not officially received any documents drawn up as a result of the inspection. That is, we, the monks, as regular users of the monastery property before and after its confiscation by the communist authorities, have not been officially informed of the results of the inspection. From various sources, we learn about some “numerous violations” during the inspection, so we are forced to address the public. As the official spokesperson for the Lavra, I declare that all the information in the above sources that speaks of our violations is not true. This behavior of the media has nothing to do with the code of honor of a journalist and is a targeted information propaganda against the Pochayiv Lavra,” – said the monastery’s spokesman.

Earlier, we reported that a special commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine recommended that the lease agreement for the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra concluded with the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church be terminated in court. The reason for this decision was an earlier inspection of the monastery, which, according to the MCIP, revealed violations.
