Volodymyr Zelensky announced the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On August 10, 2024, in his regular evening address to the nation, Volodymyr Zelensky announced the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The head of state said that he held a meeting “on the decision that will strengthen our spiritual independence”. This is reported by the media.

“I have just held a preparatory meeting about a solution that will strengthen our Ukrainian spiritual independence. We must deprive Moscow of the last opportunities to limit the freedom of Ukrainians and the solutions for this must be one hundred percent effective and truly working. We will provide them. Glory to Ukraine!”, – said Zelensky.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the head of the international human rights company “Amsterdam & Partners LLP” Robert Amsterdam, representing the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, wrote an open appeal to Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he pointed out the risks for Ukraine associated with the possible adoption of the scandalous bill № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The human rights defender pointed out that he had information about the purposeful destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian authorities, which, according to international law, is a crime against humanity.
