Bulgaria hosts international conference in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On August 26, 2024 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, an international conference in defense of Orthodoxy and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church began its work. The event is organized under the auspices of the Center for Geostrategic Studies, and the final goals of the conference are the adoption of a joint declaration on the results of the conferences and the establishment of cooperation with the UN on the protection of Orthodoxy. This is reported by the Telegram channel “Pravblog”.

It is reported that the participants and speakers of the conference are the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, the hierarch of the Jerusalem Patriarchate Archbishop Theodosius of Sebastia, the representative of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church Priest Michael Kovachev, the cleric of the Serbian Orthodox Church Priest Sasha Petrovic, as well as heads and members of international human rights organizations in Bulgaria and Serbia. Media support of the event is provided by mass media from Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Bulgaria and Serbia.

Recall, earlier we reported that on April 27, 2024 in Rome held an international conference called “Rome Consultation”, whose participants paid special attention to the problem of state-church relations in Ukraine and persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
