TRC forcibly mobilized a priest of the UOC

On October 1, 2024, in the town of Kremenets, Ternopil region, representatives of the territorial recruiting center forcibly mobilized Archpriest Ioan Polishchuk, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is reported that Polishchuk visited the local military enlistment office to clarify the data of the person liable for military service, after which he was sent to the military medical commission and immediately sent to the training ground in Uzhgorod. This was reported by the people’s Deputy of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk.

“During the detention of the bishop very high blood pressure, but the “warriors” did not bother with him and used force. The priest was denied medical assistance, which he badly needed! In what condition Fr. John now — no one knows. According to the latest information: Fr. John was detained by TCC bandits in Kremenets, Ternopil region. There he came from Germany, where for more than a year he had been providing spiritual care for Ukrainians, parishioners of the UOC. Now he is being taken to the training center in Rivne region. I am addressing again to our parishioners, residents of Rivne region. Right now our priest, who was kidnapped by the persecutors of our Faith, our Church, is being brought to you. They were waiting for him to return to abuse his ministry,” — the MP wrote in his Telegram channel.

Remind you, that on September 22, 2024, after Sunday Divine Liturgy in the Holy Dormition Church in the village of Iza, Transcarpathian region, employees of the Khust territorial recruitment center, in front of the faithful people, took away from the temple two priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – clerics of the Khust and Odessa dioceses of the UOC. The abducted were two brothers – Archpriests Vasyl and Stepan Guk. After the incident with the abduction of the priests began to gain publicity, parishioners of the Dormition Church in the village of Iza and other concerned believers of the UOC, as a sign of protest, blocked the roads and blocked the Uzhgorod TCC demanding the release of the detained clergymen.
