"Competing firm": supporters of the UGCC and OCU are most interested in banning the UOC

A new opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in conjunction with the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine has shown that supporters of the UGCC and the OCU are most interested in banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In addition, according to sociologists, more than 70% of Ukrainians supported the law banning the UOC. This is reported by the Interfax edition.
As noted in the results of the study, regional differences on the topic of the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are not as pronounced as differences among supporters of different denominations. The largest share of supporters of this decision is among supporters of the UGCC (87.1%) and the OCU (82.8%). At the same time, among supporters of other denominations or those who do not belong to any denomination, one in five is indifferent on this issue.
Earlier, the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience published statistics on religious communities in Ukraine. In total, the SSEFC counted 36,195 religious communities, 552 monasteries, and 201 religious educational institutions. Despite all the statements and opinion polls, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church still has the largest number of registered and active communities.
