OCU supporters attempt to seize UOC cathedral in Kremenchuk

On October 17, 2024, in Kremenchuk, supporters of the OCU attempted to seize the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Kremenchuk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The raiders arrived on the territory of the cathedral in the late afternoon, when the evening service was being held in the church. The radicals broke the lock of the front door of the cathedral and installed their own. This was reported by the press service of the Kremenchuk Eparchy of the UOC.
«During the Vespers, unknown young men in balaclavas entered the cathedral, behaving aggressively and creating provocations. The young men brought grinders and crowbars to cut the locks on the church doors, and as a result, they replaced the door lock of the central door of the cathedral. With the help of numerous believers of the UOC, the cathedral was defended, but, unfortunately, the cathedral was closed and sealed by the police,» the Kremenchuk diocese said in a statement.
Earlier, the Diocese of Kremenchuk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church published a report that in September, an illegal legal re-registration of the Holy Dormition Cathedral and the Holy Trinity Church in Kremenchuk took place. In the near future, it is planned to seize these churches by force. The initiator of this lawlessness is Archimandrite Theodosius (Ovcharuk Ruslan Anatolyevich), who joined the OCU in early 2023.
