Vicar of the Odessa diocese of the UOC took part in church celebrations on Aegina

Archbishop Diodorus (Vasylchuk) of Yuzhne, vicar of the Odesa Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was among the hierarchs of the Greek Orthodox Church who attended the celebrations in honor of the day of memory of St. Nectarius of Aegina on the island of Aegina (Greece). This was reported by the Telegram channel Pravblog.

«Another hierarch of the UOC, Archbishop Diodorus (Vasylchuk) of Yuzhne, vicar of the Odesa Eparchy, attended the celebration of the feast day of St. Nectarius of Aegina on the island of Aegina. This already raises a lot of questions. First, it turns out that we can already concelebrate with the GOC, which has recognized the OCU? Secondly, since this concelebration is a violation of the decisions approved by the Holy Synod of the UOC, will disciplinary measures be taken against the vicar of the Odesa Eparchy? Thirdly, did the Archbishop go to Aegina with the blessing of Metropolitan Onufriy or is the ruling bishop of the Odesa Eparchy playing his own game without looking back to Kyiv? In this context, both the statement of the UOC bishops against the Russian Church, organized by Bishop Agafangel, and his congratulations to Trump look in a slightly different light,» the channel wrote.

Earlier we reported that the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Galicia, is visiting Greece. On November 13, 2024, the hierarch was seen at a service at the Cathedral of St. Gregory Palamas in Thessaloniki.
