Greek Catholic church to be built in historic part of Zaporizhzhia

The construction of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel of the UGCC is planned within the historical area of Socialist Zaporizhzhia. It will be located at 1-b Metallurgiv Ave. A project for the future church has been developed. On November 13, 2024, it was presented at a meeting of the Advisory Board. This was reported by the media.
«The author of the project, Dmytro Romanov, was able to convince the Advisory Board to recommend the project for further implementation. When making the decision, the members of the Advisory Board were guided not only by architectural and artistic considerations but also by the principle of harmonious functioning of the historical environment, taking into account the new social reality,» said Zaporizhzhia historian Pavlo Kravchuk.
We recall that a recent opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in conjunction with the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine indicated that supporters of the UGCC and the OCU were most interested in banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In addition, according to sociologists, more than 70% of Ukrainians supported the law banning the UOC.
