“One can easily recognize who is Orthodox in Ukraine” - Bulgarian patriarch

The Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria, commented on the ongoing Ukrainian church crisis. Speaking about the conflict between the UOC and the OCU, the head of the BOC claims that Bulgaria is well aware of what is happening in Ukraine and which Church is truly Orthodox. He said this in a commentary to Eurocom.

“Those who call themselves Orthodox persecute and beat people. It is very easy to recognize who is really the Orthodox Church in Ukraine,” — said Patriarch Daniel, mentioning the seizure of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In addition, His Holiness said that since the creation of the OCU, a special commission has been working in the Bulgarian Church to study this issue, which will publish the results of its work after the end of the war in Ukraine, so that the Synod of the BOC can put an end to the issue of attitude to the Ukrainian church schism.

“The Synod has a commission that collects all the materials on the issue of the Ukrainian church, and the general opinion is that this issue will find its solution when the war in Ukraine ends,” — added the patriarch.

As reported, on November 5, 2024, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkach. During the talks, Patriarch Porfirije drew the Ukrainian ambassador’s attention to the fact that the Ukrainian church crisis is being resolved by the government with major mistakes that could lead to irreparable consequences.
