MP recomended on UOC to respond to call of OCU head and start dialogue on unification

Ukrainian MP and chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Nikita Poturaev recommended that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church abandon confrontation in connection with the anti-church law No. 3894 and start a dialogue with the OCU on unification into a “single church.” Poturayev is convinced that the UOC should choose this fate for its believers. He stated this in a comment to Detector.media.

“During these nine months (before the implementation of Law No. 3894 – ed.), the UOC must decide which way to go and what fate it chooses for its faithful. There is the path of confrontation, radicalization and open work for the enemy. And there is a more moderate way – to actually break ties with Moscow and the Kremlin. In this case, they will not lose their canonicity completely, but there will still be certain problems with this. Or they can respond to the call of Metropolitan Epifaniy, the head of the OCU, to resume the dialogue and begin the process of unification,” – Poturaev said.

As reported, Poturayev recently accused the UN of being “pro-Russian” because of the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which criticized the scandalous anti-church law No. 3894, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy claims that the UN did not understand the details of the law, and the pro-Russian lobby in the organization wants to discredit Ukraine in this way.
