In Kharkiv region, attempts were made to mobilize the abbot of a UOC monastery

On January 25, 2025, a case of forced mobilization of a clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church occurred in the Kharkiv region. This time, Archimandrite Bohdan (Pilguy), the abbot of the monastery in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Quickly Hearing” in the village of Babai, Kharkiv region, became the victim of the TRC officers. The priest was detained at one of the checkpoints in the region. This was reported by the media.
It is reported that after the detention of Archimandrite Bohdan at the checkpoint, he was immediately transferred to one of the nearest territorial recruitment centers, where he was offered to undergo a military medical examination, after which the priest was sent to one of the military units of the city of Dnipro.
Despite the fact that the staff of the TRC insisted that Archimandrite Bohdan be sent to the front line, none of the military units wanted to register the clergyman. Because of this, the archimandrite was transported to different parts of the country for several days, without even being given the opportunity to eat properly.
Finally, on January 27, a few days after his detention, the clergyman was released. Archimandrite Bohdan was able to return to the monastery and continue to fulfill his direct duties.
