Police and Ternopil Diocese of the UOC comment on the shelling of the diocesan administration

The National Police of the Ternopil region and the press service of the Ternopil Diocese of the UOC reported the details of the incident that occurred in the twenties of January. Then an unidentified person or group of people fired at the premises of the Ternopil Diocesan Administration of the UOC. Law enforcement officials said they did not know who carried out the attack. This was reported by the regional edition “20 minutes”.

“The remains of a bullet were found near the window. According to preliminary information, it was fired from an air pistol. We are now investigating whether it was intentional, or perhaps the incident happened by accident. No one from the diocese was injured. We also did not raise the issue of strengthening patrols near the church,” – the National Police of Ternopil region said.

In turn, the Ternopil Diocese of the UOC reported that the incident did not affect the activities of the Cathedral and the diocesan administration, and the diocese left the issue of additional security of the premises to the police.

“I do not want to return to this topic. Let the police figure out who did it and why. It is also up to them to decide whether the territory needs increased patrolling. No one was injured among the representatives of the department, we have already replaced the window. Liturgies and all other scheduled events are now underway in the church,” – said Stepan Balan, press secretary of the Ternopil Diocese of the UOC.

Earlier we reported that in Ternopil, unknown persons fired at the premises of the diocesan administration of the Ternopil Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A characteristic hole was found in one of the windows of the building, as well as the remains of a bullet.
