Another court hearing in the case of Metropolitan Theodosius held in Cherkasy

On January 29, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular hearing in one of the criminal proceedings opened against Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This time, during the meeting, the evidence of the parties was examined. This was reported by Suspilne.Cherkasy.

It is reported that during the hearing, the prosecutor in the case against Metropolitan Theodosius, as evidence, provided screenshots from the Internet resources of the Russian Orthodox Church, presenting them as materials from the Russian-language version of the official website of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC. In particular, they told about a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church who died at the front of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“I do not understand what my client has to do with the articles published on Russian resources and the pages of the witness,” — said Metropolitan Feodosiy’s lawyer.

As a result, the next hearing in the case was scheduled for April 27.

We recall that on January 27, 2025, the Northern Economic Court of Appeal of Kyiv ruled on a ban on the eviction of the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The court ordered to suspend the consideration of the lawsuit on the eviction of the monastery’s brethren until another court case is finally resolved on the lawsuit on the legality of the termination of the contract for the use of the Lavra’s premises.
