New vicar of Bessarabian Metropolis officially introduced in Moldova

On February 20, 2025, the new vicar of the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Bishop Nectarii, was officially introduced in Moldova. The solemn service was held in the Church of the Three Saints in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau. This was reported by the official website of the Romanian Patriarchate.

The service on the occasion of the presentation of the new bishop was led by Metropolitan Peter of Bessarabia, concelebrated by Bishop Nektarii, consulting priests from the Chisinau Diocesan Center, deans of the Chisinau Archeparchy and other invited clergy. In his speech, Bishop Nektarii noted that he was appointed to serve in the land of Bessarabia “to fulfill what our parents and ancestors built with prayer and great sacrifice.”

“I came to become one of you, but I did not come alone — I brought with me the love of our brothers from the right bank of the Prut, who, although temporarily separated by borders, remain united with us in one holy prayerful spirit,” — the hierarch said.

As reported earlier, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel, presided over the episcopal ordination of a new auxiliary bishop of the Chisinau Archdiocese of Moldova (part of the Bessarabian Metropolis). Archimandrite Nectarius Clinic, former abbot of the Sihastria Putney Monastery, became the new bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Moldova.
