Romanian Church ordains another bishop for Moldova

The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel, presided over the episcopal ordination of a new auxiliary bishop of the Chisinau Archdiocese of Moldova (part of the Bessarabian Metropolis). The new bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Moldova will be Archimandrite Nectarii Clinic, former abbot of the Sihastria Putnei Monastery. This was reported by the official website of the Romanian Patriarchate.
It is reported that the new bishop will be an assistant to the head of the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Peter (Peduraru), who is engaged in expanding the influence of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Moldova.
“We, the Bessarabians, have no other way but unity,” – Peduraru said, calling for strengthening church ties outside the state.
It is worth noting that Moldova is the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Church of Moldova operates on the territory of the state, which does not recognize the Bessarabian Metropolis, considering it a schismatic organization.
In addition, the Bessarabian Metropolis receives active support from the Romanian government, which apparently uses the Church as one of the levers of influence in the process of Moldova’s possible integration into Romania, as has been repeatedly stated.
Earlier we reported that on October 4, 2024, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu visited the Republic of Moldova. During the visit, the Romanian Prime Minister met with the head of the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Patriarchate, Metropolitan Peter (Peduraru), to whom he promised to continue financial support for the structure of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Moldova.
