Patriarch Daniel of Romania: The family is a divine gift that no ideology can replace

Patriarch Daniel of Romania emphasized the exceptional importance of the Christian family as a primary blessing bestowed by God, one that cannot be replaced by any political or philosophical system. According to the Orthodoxia News Agency, this statement was made during a solemn session of the Holy Synod held in Bucharest.

During the event, the Romanian Orthodox Church summarized its activities dedicated to the Year of Pastoral Care for the Christian Family. Patriarch Daniel noted that the Church will continue to implement programs aimed at supporting family values, emphasizing that a person’s spiritual development is impossible without interaction with those around them. According to the Primate, it is the family that constitutes the foundation created by the Creator for eternity and serves as the key institution where each person’s personality is formed.

During the meeting, Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești presented a report on the work accomplished, and the Patriarchate’s publishing houses’ current projects were also discussed. The solemn meeting concluded with an awards ceremony honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of church initiatives and the support of the social activities of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

It should be recalled that earlier, Metropolitan Seraphim of Kifissia, a hierarch of the Church of Greece, issued a strong statement in which he called modern attempts to legitimize same-sex unions a serious threat to the traditional Christian family.
