OCU raiders make unsuccessful attempt to seize Peter and Paul Church of UOC in Brovary

On March 17, 2025, supporters of the OCU, with the support of local authorities, made an unsuccessful attempt to seize the Peter and Paul Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Brovary (Kyiv region). The invaders had previously illegally re-registered the Peter and Paul religious community of the UOC to the OCU. This is reported by the UOJ.

According to the rector of the church, Archpriest Alexander Levchuk, on March 13, 2025, supporters of the OCU illegally re-registered the Peter and Paul community of the UOC in Brovary to the OCU. After that, representatives of local authorities demanded that the priest give them the keys to the church, which was refused.

Since they failed to get the church “peacefully,” the OCU supporters decided to storm the building. In the afternoon, on March 17, they brought burglars who were supposed to change the locks on the front door of the cathedral. However, after the police arrived at the scene, the raiders had to retreat from their plan.

“They said that I should give them the keys, and then everything would be fine, but we did not give in together with the parishioners and stayed in the church, we did not agree to this. I hope that the truth will prevail, and we will be able to celebrate the Holy Resurrection of Christ in our church,” – said the rector.

As reported earlier, on March 12, 2025, the Holy Dormition Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Blagodatne, Cherkasy region, was seized by the OCU chaplains. The raiders took advantage of the absence of the rector of the local parish of the UOC, who was undergoing treatment due to illness.
