Georgian Patriarch Ilia congratulates newly elected Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church

The head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia, sent greetings to the newly elected Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop John. Patriarch Ilia expressed hope for deepening relations between the Georgian and Albanian Churches. This is reported by the Orthodoxia News Agency.

“May God grant you health, longevity, spiritual strength and wisdom to fulfill the significant responsibility entrusted to you, so that you may be a worthy successor to the devoted service of the late Archbishop Anastasios. We hope that under your leadership, the ties between our Churches will become even stronger, and your pastoral ministry will be fruitful and bring spiritual joy not only to your flock but to the entire Orthodox world,” — wrote Patriarch Ilia.

Recall, March 16, 2025 in Tirana held elections for the new Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church. According to the results of the election process, Metropolitan John of Korczan was elected as the new Beatitude Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, who had previously held the position of Primate’s See.
