The Bulgarian Orthodox Church initiated the rite of Peacemaking

On March 23, 2025, the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Daniel, performed the rite of myrrh-making. The solemn ceremony took place in the myrrh library of the Holy Synod in Sofia. It was reported by the press service of the Bulgarian Patriarchate.

“In the morning, the procedure of the ninth Peacemaking in the BOC began. His Holiness Patriarch Daniel led a water blessing prayer service and read a prayer for success in the good deed. The vessels will be transferred to the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, where the brewing of the Holy Peace will begin at the beginning of Holy Week,” – the press service notes.

As reported, on April 13, 2023, on Holy Thursday, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and the rite of consecration of the Myrrh at St. Panteleimon’s Convent (Feofaniya), which was the first consecration of the Myrrh after a 110-year break. According to historical data, the consecration of the Myrrh in the Kyiv Metropolis originated in the middle of the fifteenth century and was performed until 1913.
