In Cherkasy region, more than 450 religious communities are subordinate to the UOC

More than 450 religious communities in the Cherkasy region are subordinate to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.This was reported by the Department of Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration in response to a request from the publication «18000».

According to official data, the statutes of 1,439 religious organizations of various confessions and denominations are registered in the region. Among them are 453 religious communities under the jurisdiction of the UOC.

At the same time, from January 1, 2019, when the OCU received the tomos, to March 28, 2025, a total of 107 religious communities in the region have changed their canonical and organizational affiliation.

Earlier, we reported that the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU published a statement expressing outrage over the fact that the court released the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, from punishment in the form of night house arrest. The organization believes that such a court decision contributes to the spread of the ideology of the «Russian world.»
