Serbian and Jerusalem Patriarchs held a meeting in the Holy City

March 31, 2025 began the visit of the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Porphyrios to the Holy Land. On April 1, the head of the Serbian Patriarchate was welcomed at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem by Patriarch Theophilos. This is reported by the official website of the Jerusalem Patriarchate.
It is reported that during this visit, traditional gifts, particularly sets of patriarchal pectoral crosses, were exchanged from His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem to His Beatitude the Patriarch of Serbia and vice versa. The Patriarch of Serbia expressed his excitement and gratitude for the visit and thanked God and His Beatitude for the honor of visiting on pilgrimage the Holy and Life-Giving Tomb and Jerusalem, the Holy Mother of Churches.
“Your pilgrimage, your visit to the ‘court of the Lord’ (Psalm 84:3), is not only a testimony of faith, but also a sign of cooperation in restoring unity and peace among our Orthodox brotherhoods, especially those Churches that suffer from divisions.” As St. Paul says, “That when the fullness of times comes, we may gather all together in Christ” (Eph. 1:10), “speaking the truth in love” and “bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3-4). Moreover, this is a blessing not only for Your Eminence and your honorable delegation, but also for the pious flock of the Orthodox Serbian Church, which is under your care,» — Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem addressed his colleague.
Recall, earlier we reported that on December 26, 2024 in Jerusalem, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church was held. Among the decisions made at the meeting was a resolution to hold in 2025 a theological conference dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council.
