Dobrovolskyi calls for the removal of UOC churches in Cherkasy

The head of the Patronage Service of the Cherkasy City Council, Mykola Dobrovolskyi, known for his controversial statements about Orthodox Ukrainians, calling them «enemies,» «Moscow filth,» and «lice,» has made another scandalous call. He suggested removing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church churches in Cherkasy by Easter, the Telegram channel “First Cossack” reports.

Dobrovolskyi, who is a OCU awardee, received the «Cross of Freedom» medal for «sacrificial service» from «metropolitan» of the OCU Ioann Yaremenko. The event took place at the Mikhailivskyi Cathedral in Cherkasy, immediately after its seizure by representatives of the OCU.

It was earlier reported that on March 28, 2025, hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Cherkasy and Kaniv Theodosius , participated in the 58th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council. The archbishop spoke about the violations of the rights of UOC believers and the forceful seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the UOC in Cherkasy, during which he personally, as well as members of the diocesan clergy and believers, suffered.
