Kirill Govorun criticizes head of Young Republicans for defending UOC

The defrocked former cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill Govorun, criticized the co-chair of the National Federation of Young Republicans, Katherine Whiteford, for defending the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Govorun believes that Whiteford informs the entourage of US President Donald Trump that the UOC is “allegedly being persecuted.” He said this in a comment to the NV publication.

«We see the same thing now, to a large extent, with Trump, when young movements are leading inside. For example, the Republican Party is headed by a girl who is the daughter of an Orthodox priest, who is strongly in favor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate, which has not lost its ties with Moscow — Ed.), which is allegedly being persecuted and so on. In other words, she is one of the main advocates, if we link Trump’s history to Ukraine, for the protection of the rights of the UOC, and at the same time she is the leader of such a youth movement in Trump’s environment,» — the former archimandrite of the Russian Orthodox Church noted.

Earlier, Katherine Whiteford warned the persecutors of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the coming retribution if they do not repent and stop persecuting canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine. Whiteford said that thanks to Trump’s victory in the US presidential election, the persecution of Christians, especially the UOC believers, will soon be stopped in the world.
