Court Imposes Preventive Measure on the Archimandrite of the Boryspil District of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Father Feognost

On April 18, 2025, the Boryspil City and District Court of Kyiv Oblast considered the issue of a preventive measure for Archimandrite Feognost, the rector of the Archangel Michael Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), who was accused of alleged criminal offenses — embezzlement of property belonging to the religious community and falsification of official documents (service forgery). The court decided to apply a nighttime house arrest as a preventive measure. This was reported by the lawyer Mykyta Chekman.
The lawyer noted that the defense had demonstrated the necessity for Archimandrite Feognost to continue conducting religious services, and that the nighttime house arrest was an adequate measure to ensure the performance of his duties as a clergyman and the dean of the Boryspil district.
Archimandrite Feognost expressed his gratitude to all those who prayed for him, as well as to his lawyers for their support.
It is worth noting that on April 15, 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches at the residence of a clergyman from the Boryspil Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the investigation, the clergyman allegedly privatized the church and the utility rooms, which «belong to the local community.»
