Halal and Kosher Rations to Be Introduced in the Ukrainian Armed Forces Under New Standards

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved a new technical specification for daily field rations, including the option to procure halal and kosher meal kits. The decision aims to ensure that the dietary needs of servicemembers are met in accordance with their religious beliefs, the ministry said, as reported by Ukrinform.

“We are working to ensure the highest standards of support for all servicemembers — regardless of their faith,” the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

Halal rations are intended for Muslim soldiers and must be certified in accordance with Halal standards by accredited bodies in Ukraine or Arab-Muslim countries.

Kosher rations are designed for servicemembers of the Jewish faith. All components must comply with kashrut requirements and contain no prohibited ingredients or additives.

The Ministry stressed that it continues to improve the army’s food supply system, taking into account the cultural and religious characteristics of the personnel.

Earlier, it was reported that the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, received the notorious “chaplain” Roman Hryshchuk, responsible for organizing the raider seizures of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Chernivtsi region. Dumenko presented Hryshchuk with the book “With God is Victory” and discussed with the raider “topical issues of the life of the OCU.”
