In Varash, the OCU prepares for a new attempt to seize the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC

A raider group from the OCU is once again preparing to attempt to seize the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Varash. The head of the local OCU, Yosyp Sharko, announced that on May 20 at 10:00 a.m., an audit commission will be working in the church. He posted this information on his Facebook page.

He called the rector of the cathedral, Father Volodymyr Denysiuk, “former” and demanded to “hand over the keys” to the sanctuary.

At the same time, Sharko expressed hope for a “peaceful procedure of transferring” the property, which has already been illegally re-registered under the OCU.

Recall that on the morning of May 15, a group of people associated with the OCU attempted to enter the territory of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Varash. The group was accompanied by a local deputy.
