Criminal Case Opened in Bukovina Over Fake News About the Orphanage at Bancheny Monastery

Law enforcement agencies in the Chernivtsi region have initiated a criminal case concerning alleged «violence in the orphanage» operating at the Bancheny Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. During monitoring of social media, authorities discovered video materials indicating possible legal violations on the premises of the institution. This was reported by the Bukovina police.

Information on this case has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 150 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides punishment for child exploitation.

Investigative actions are currently underway, and a decision regarding the legal qualification of the incident will be made based on their results.

It is worth recalling that the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine responded to reports of «cases of violence against children» at the orphanage of the Bancheny Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bukovina. Official inquiries have been sent to the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation of the events.
