“The evidence of state persecution of the UOC is irrefutable,” says the head of the Young Republicans

Co-chair of the National Federation of Young Republicans Catherine Whiteford has published a video investigation into the Ukrainian authorities’ involvement in the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The politician spoke out about violations of the rights and freedoms of believers and restrictions on freedom of religion, and called on key US human rights institutions to respond to what is happening. She reported this on her account on social network X.
«The evidence of state persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) is irrefutable — see for yourself. While Ukrainian men are bravely defending their country on the front lines, their families are being subjected to brutal treatment by the Zelensky regime. In this video, you will see clear evidence that elected officials and state agents are directly involved in the illegal seizure of churches and the beating of women and elderly people. This must stop. Christ says that “every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste” [Matthew 12:25], and this is exactly what Zelensky is leading Ukraine to by persecuting the largest and oldest religious organization in the country. This must stop immediately,» — Whiteford said.
She added that all evidence of pressure on the UOC, including the names of those involved, will be sent to the US Department of Justice so that the US government can respond appropriately to what is happening.
«We will send the names, positions, and evidence to the US Department of Justice and other federal agencies and call on them to take action. Any further assistance to Ukraine must be conditional on the cessation of persecution of the UOC and the prosecution of those who carried it out. I hope you will share this video and join us in demanding an end to Zelensky’s persecution of Ukrainian Christians,» — the politician added.
Earlier, political analyst Konstantin Bondarenko commented on statements by representatives of the Ukrainian government regarding the implementation of anti-church law No. 3894, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The political analyst claims that the full implementation of the law will lead to a negative reaction from the US.
