Eviction of UOC Community from the Assumption Cathedral in Volodymyr Temporarily Suspended

The process of evicting the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Assumption Cathedral in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi has been temporarily suspended. On June 3, the North-Western Appellate Commercial Court halted proceedings in case No. 903/693/24 due to the Supreme Court opening a cassation review following an appeal by the UOC community. This was reported by the news agency BUG.

All case materials have been transferred to the cassation court, where the hearing is scheduled for July 8, 2025.

The religious community is exercising its legal right to judicial protection and is appealing previous court decisions that require them to vacate the church.

It is also worth noting that the legal proceedings over the eviction of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the state-expropriated premises of the Assumption Cathedral complex are entering a new phase. The eviction, initially scheduled for May 29, did not take place because one of the premises is officially registered as the residence of an individual.
