OCU Accuses Poltavaoblenergo of "Supporting Structures of the Aggressor Church"

A conflict is escalating in Kremenchuk between the OCU community and a branch of JSC «Poltavaoblenergo.» The reason was the energy company’s refusal to accept and register an official complaint submitted by the «Holy Trinity Parish of the OCU.» According to the community, this obstructs their «legal activities» and may indicate cooperation with structures linked to the aggressor state. This was reported by the online news outlet Telegraf.

On May 1, 2025, the community requested changes to power supply agreement No. 21501295 due to a change in the legal entity’s name and the appointment of a new head — Theodosiy Ovcharuk. They also requested a paper copy of the contract and the distribution point passport for the property located at 9 Svobody Avenue. However, according to the complainants, «Poltavaoblenergo» refused the request and ignored the complaint.

Meanwhile, the church building, according to representatives of the OCU, is registered in the State Register under their community, but remains under the control of representatives of the UOC, including Metropolitan Mykola of Kremenchuk and Lubny. The OCU clergy complain that they are unable to conduct «worship services» and are denied access to the church.

The community cites the Law of Ukraine «On the Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Sphere of Religious Organizations,» Presidential Decree No. 820/2022, and a religious expert opinion by the State Service for Ethnopolitics, which alleges that the UOC remains a structural part of the Russian Orthodox Church.

It is also alleged that electricity continues to be used in the building without a valid contract and without payment, in violation of the law.

OCU representatives demand that a paper copy of the contract be issued immediately, that the complaint be formally reviewed, and warn that if these demands are not met, they will file a report with the Security Service of Ukraine under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code — aiding the «aggressor state.»

It was previously reported that the Commercial Court of Poltava Region sided with the OCU in a case concerning the illegal re-registration of the Holy Trinity religious community of the UOC in Kremenchuk, which was done to seize control of the local Holy Trinity church.
