Protests against construction of UOC church in Ternopil region

In the village of Surazh, Ternopil region, OCU activists are protesting against the construction of a church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Earlier in this village, supporters of the OCU took away the local church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the UOC. In this regard, the UOC community has been forced to pray in an adapted room since the seizure of their church. The construction is reported by the media.

“Kremenets district. Shumsk community. The village of Surazh. Turova Street. Yesterday I was there at the request of those who necessarily add two letters MP to the UOC. Residents of the village are outraged by the fact that according to the documents, an ordinary residential building is being built on Turova Street, but in fact a church of the Moscow Patriarchate is being built. I heard everything well. I saw it with my own eyes. And I note the pathological arrogance, legal ignorance, or brazen bravado of local Moscow priests. Everything is so obvious that I believe that there is every reason for some competent controllers from the relevant structures to finally come to Surazh. From any of them. For example, from the prosecutor’s office. We shouldn’t ignore it, we should just try. Talk to people. Take a look at the large cross installed near the future house, which is supposedly just a house. And it will not be difficult to make sure that the customers of this construction have long ago spat on the documents and are really building a church there,” — said Serhiy Sinkevich, a supporter of the OCU.

Earlier, we reported that in Lviv, local residents and radical activists, with the support of the Lviv City Council, are tracking places where believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church could gather for prayer, given the lack of church premises for full-fledged worship. The activists prevent local UOC communities expelled from their churches from renting premises and adapting them for temporary churches. At the same time, they are also monitoring private residences where believers could gather for prayer.
