As a reminder, on June 14, 2025, in the city of Sarny (Rivne region), staff of the Territorial Recruitment Center forcibly conscripted a cleric of the local Holy Protection Cathedral of the Sarny Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — Deacon Maksym Huzenko.
In the Ternopil region, the TRC detained a priest who was on his way to a church service.

On June 22, 2025, in the city of Shumsk, employees of the Shumsk District Territorial Center for the Recruitment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the police, detained Archpriest Ioann Koval, a cleric of the Ternopil Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The clergyman was on his way to the parish to conduct Sunday services. This was reported to Raskolam.net by sources in the Ternopil Diocese of the UOC.
It is reported that the incident occurred on the way to the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Onyshkivtsi, where the priest planned to celebrate Sunday Liturgy. Archpriest Ioann Koval was detained at about 7 a.m., and by 9 a.m. he was no longer in contact. Upon learning of the priest’s detention, parishioners of the church came to the local TRC to try to secure his release, but their arguments were not taken into account.
Later it became known that the priest had been taken to one of the military training grounds in the Rivne region.
