Court Hearing in the Case of Metropolitan Arseny Postponed Again

On June 24, another hearing was held at the Sloviansk City District Court of Donetsk Region in the case of Metropolitan Arseny of Sviatohirsk, abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra. The court was expected to consider the defense’s motion to return the indictment and to begin reviewing a petition to restore the archbishop’s right to proper medical care. This was reported on the website of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.

However, the hearing did not proceed in full. In particular, the prosecutor requested additional time to review the motions submitted by the defense.

As a result, the case review was postponed. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1. Like all previous sessions since October last year, it is expected to be held via videoconference.

It should be recalled that on June 4, 2025, the Dnipro Court of Appeal rejected the defense’s complaints regarding the decision of the Sloviansk City Court to extend Metropolitan Arseny’s detention. The hierarch has been held in the Dnipro pre-trial detention center since April 25, 2024, and his arrest has now been extended until the end of July this year.
