Catholic Bishops of Belarus Meet with New Apostolic Nuncio

On June 26, 2025, the first official meeting between the Catholic bishops of Belarus and the new Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Belarus, Archbishop Ignazio Ceffalia, took place in Minsk. The Pinsk Diocese reported the event.

During the meeting, Archbishop Ceffalia presented the bishops with an official document from the Holy See confirming his diplomatic appointment. The Apostolic Nuncio serves as the official representative of the Pope and the Vatican in the country.

It is known that Archbishop Ceffalia may lead the main Mass at the annual Catholic festival in Budslav. Additionally, within Catholic circles, there is hope that the arrival of the new nuncio may contribute to resolving the issue of imprisoned clergy.

Earlier, it was reported that on June 27, a Polish-Ukrainian prayer breakfast took place in Warsaw at the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, with participation from church and government representatives of both countries. The Ukrainian delegation was led by Minister of Culture Mykola Tochytskyi.
