Polish-Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast Held in the Polish Sejm

On June 27, a Polish-Ukrainian prayer breakfast took place in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw, gathering representatives of Churches and governments from both countries. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Minister of Culture Mykola Tchytskyi, according to the Ministry of Culture’s official website.

The event began with an ecumenical prayer in the Sejm’s chapel. Among the participants were the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, and representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.

During the breakfast, a discussion was held on the topic: “Ukraine in the New Europe. The Role of Churches.”

“The history of Ukrainian-Polish relations shows that in resisting an aggressor, the key to success lies in unity and mutual understanding between our nations. Today, more than ever, we need strong internal unity — based on values that have always been at the heart of the Christian tradition: love, truth, and respect,” Tchytskyi stated during the meeting.

It was also previously reported that Kirill Hovorun, a former cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church who was defrocked, shared his impressions of attending a session of the World Council of Churches held in Johannesburg. Hovorun expressed outrage that the WCC has still not accepted the OCU as a member, blaming it on “Russian propaganda.”
