"Zelensky Personally Coordinates Daily Repressions Against the UOC," — MP Artem Dmytruk

Commenting on the revocation of Ukrainian citizenship from His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, independent MP Artem Dmytruk stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky personally and on a daily basis coordinates actions aimed at displacing the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by TASS.

«Zelensky personally coordinates the ‘UOC issue’ every day — for him, it is one of the main topics and priorities,» Dmytruk said.

According to the MP, the campaign against the UOC is not only religious but also civilizational in nature. «The UOC issue in Ukraine is not just about faith, traditions, culture, memory, and community. It is a thread that binds our countries into one people. And that, of course, is the main reason for such persecution — essentially, genocide,» he emphasized.

Dmytruk also claimed that clergy, parishioners, human rights defenders, lawyers, and advocates associated with the UOC are being detained daily in Ukraine. He reminded that Metropolitan Arseniy has been in custody for over a year, and repressions continue against other hierarchs — Metropolitans Feodosiy, Luka, Pavlo, and others. According to him, Zelensky had long avoided direct pressure on Onuphry, but has now «made his move.»

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian political analyst Kostyantyn Bondarenko commented on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to revoke the Ukrainian citizenship of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine. The political analyst criticized Zelenskyy for such a political move, comparing him to the Gospel character Judas Iscariot.
