Court Hearing in the Case of Metropolitan Arseniy Postponed Due to Video Link Malfunction

The hearing of the Sloviansk City District Court of Donetsk region in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatohirsk, scheduled for July 9, 2025, did not take place. The reason for the postponement was technical issues that prevented the proper conduct of the session in a video conference format. A new date has been set for July 17, according to the official website of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
It is noted that several motions filed by the defense are still pending, including a request to return the indictment to the prosecutor and another to restore Metropolitan Arseniy’s right to adequate medical care. The defense emphasizes the need for his release due to health conditions that cannot be treated within the confines of a pre-trial detention center.
At the next session, the court is also expected to consider the prosecutor’s motion to extend the current measure of restraint — pre-trial detention. The current term of this measure is set to expire at the end of July.
As previously reported, on June 24, the Sloviansk City District Court held another session in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy, abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra. However, the hearing was not completed in full, as the prosecutor requested additional time to review the defense’s motions.
