“Legally completed the process”: Dumenko reported on new “transfers” to the OCU

On July 14, 2025, during the “Bishops’ Council,” the head of the OCU, Epiphaniy Dumenko, presented a report on the activities of the structure he leads. Highlighting “successes,” Dumenko specifically emphasized that over the past year, “around 250 parishes legally completed the process of changing jurisdiction,” meaning they “left” the UOC. This report was published on the OCU website.
“Despite Russian aggression… despite the difficult living conditions…” — noted Epiphaniy, reporting that the construction, arrangement, or restoration of 55 churches and chapels was completed “through the efforts of parish communities, various institutions, and military units.”
In total, according to Epiphaniy, the OCU consists of 45 dioceses, over 9,000 religious communities, and more than 90 monasteries. He also stated that the church includes over 6,000 clerics and 63 hierarchs: 45 diocesan, 10 vicar, and 4 titular. Another 4, he added, “are retired.”
He also mentioned over 500 “priestly and diaconal ordinations” performed during the reporting period.
It should be recalled that on July 14, 2025, another “Bishops’ Council” of the OCU was held in the Refectory Church of Saints Anthony and Theodosius of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra under the chairmanship of Epiphaniy Dumenko. The session was attended by 53 OCU hierarchs. The head of the OCU delivered a report on the “church’s” activities since May 2024, after which the agenda items were discussed.
